If a cracked tooth appears below the gum line, then typically your tooth cannot be saved. After your tooth is extracted, there’s really not much else you can do, except of course, get an implant. Dental Implants have come a long way and you don’t have to worry about smiling and display that missing tooth.

Your new dental implant will not only last a lifetime, but once it is in your jawbone, it will act as your tooth’s new root. First, the jaw bone is determined whether it is strong enough for the implant. Once we do that, we then drill into your jawbone with biocompatible titanium screws, which then act as the alternate root for the new tooth.

Typically after 12-16 weeks, your jawbone fuses with the screw, and once the foundation is set, we can then take an impression of your tooth. The dentist will customize the abutment and create what’s called a dental crown which is placed on top of the implant.

After that, your next appointment will involve the customization of the abutment and place the crown on top of the implant after which the permanent crown will be placed and your your mouth will feel comfortable and secure.
